Blocked sign-ins and stuck devices

Each participant’s sign-in is tied to one device. That stops someone else signing in as them, but it also blocks a participant who has changed phones. The Security page lists blocked and flagged sign-in attempts, and lets you release a device so the right person can get in.

Who can do this: Org admins. Other staff roles don’t see this page or the device controls.

Where: Event → Ops → Security (also under Overview in the organiser app), and the Device & sign-in card in a participant’s drawer on Participants

Each row shows the Timestamp, the Participant, a Flag, and the IP / Device. The flags are:

  • Device already in use: someone tried to sign in on a device that is already signed in as another participant.
  • Account active elsewhere: someone tried to sign in as a participant who is already signed in on a different device.
  • Banned participant tried to sign in.
  • Too many attempts.

The page refreshes by itself every 30 seconds. With nothing flagged it says “No flagged sign-in attempts.”

A Release device button appears on rows flagged Device already in use or Account active elsewhere.

  1. Click Release device.
  2. Read the question carefully, then click Release device to confirm:
    • On Account active elsewhere, it asks “Release name’s device?”. They are signed out on the device they use now, and the next device to sign in as them takes its place.
    • On Device already in use, it asks “Release this device?”. The participant it is signed in as is signed out on it, so the blocked person can sign in there instead.
  1. On Participants, click the person to open their drawer.
  2. The Device & sign-in card shows the device they are Signed in on, with its IP and when it was last seen, and up to five recent Flagged attempts.
  3. Click Release device and confirm. The banner says the next device to sign in as them is bound instead.

If the card says “No device bound yet”, they have never signed in (or joined before device binding was switched on), and there is nothing to release.
