Crossword

Participants solve clues to fill a crossword grid. You enter the words and clues; the grid and each word’s placement are generated automatically, and words that share a letter are crossed.

Who can do this: Org admins.

Where: Event → Content → Challenges → Create → Crossword

Set it up

1. Create the challenge and fill in its details (see Create, edit, open and close challenges). It is saved as a draft until it has content.
2. Under Game content, fill in each Word (up to 15 letters) and its Clue. Click + Add Word for more, up to 15 words.
3. Click ↺ Preview / Reshuffle to see the grid. Click it again for a different layout.
4. Click Save content, then Go live.

Save content refuses a layout where a word couldn’t fit (“Couldn’t fit: …”): try fewer or shorter words.

The preview warns you when:

• none of the words share a letter, so they lay out as separate rows rather than one connected grid;
• the grid is wide enough that cells get small on a phone, so it scrolls sideways.

How it scores

The challenge’s points times the share of words filled in correctly, letter for letter.
