Ring Toss

Participants flick rings at a tiered rack of bottles. Each bottle can be ringed once; its colour sets its points, and every row further back adds a row bonus. Every participant gets the same rack.

Who can do this: Org admins.

Where: Event → Content → Challenges → Create → Ring Toss

A new Ring Toss starts with the title “Ring the Bottle”, a ready-made description and 320 points, which matches the default rack’s best score.

  1. Create the challenge and fill in its details (see Create, edit, open and close challenges). It is saved as a draft until it has content.
  2. Under Game content, in Rack, choose:
    • Rows: 3 to 8.
    • Rings: 3 to 20.
    • Bottles per row: Alternating 5 / 4, or Same number in every row (then set Bottles in each row, 1 to 8).
    • Difficulty: Easy: wide landing zone, Normal or Hard: tight landing zone.
    • Wind: Off, Light breeze or Gusty. With wind on, participants see each throw’s wind before they throw; it pushes the ring sideways, more on the back rows.
    • Bottle colours, in order. The front row starts with the first.
    • Colour pattern: Alternate by row, Alternate within each row or Random.
  3. Click Generate rack. Changing a choice does nothing until you press it.
  4. Check the Preview. Hover a bottle to see its points.

Under Scoring, set the points for each bottle colour and the Row bonus, added per row back. A bottle is worth its colour’s points plus the row bonus for each row behind the front. Changing these keeps the rack.

Click Save rack.

The editor shows the Best possible score: the most valuable bottles, one per ring, each ringed once. A participant’s award is capped at the challenge’s Points. When the two don’t match, the editor says so and offers Set challenge points to N. Save the rack first, then set the points to match it.

The points of every bottle a participant rings, up to the challenge’s points.
