Quiz

A quiz is a set of timed multiple-choice questions. Participants can play it on their own, at their own pace, or you can host it live and open one question at a time.

Who can do this: Org admins.

Where: Event → Content → Challenges → Create → Quiz (or Live quiz under In-person)

Set up the quiz

1. Create the challenge and fill in its details (see Create, edit, open and close challenges). A quiz is saved as a draft until it has questions.
2. Under Type options, choose:
   • Points mode (see below).
   • Default time limit, seconds (optional): each question uses this unless it sets its own.
   • Questions per participant (optional): each participant gets this many, picked and shuffled from all the questions. Leave it empty for all questions.
   • Host live: on, you open one question at a time from Live Quiz, and phones answer only the open question. Everyone gets every question, in order, so Questions per participant and Retakes are hidden. Off, participants play on their own.
   • In person: its points count as physical, like an in-person game, not as phone points.
   • Hide the question on phones when hosted live (only with Host live): you read each question aloud and phones show only the answer options. You can still change this in Live Quiz.
3. Click Save changes.

The Live quiz card under In-person creates a quiz with Host live, In person and the hidden question already on.

Add the questions

The questions are under Quiz questions on the right of the challenge.

1. For each question, fill in:
   • Question: the text. Line breaks show in the app.
   • Question image (optional): click + Add image.
   • Time limit (seconds): 1 to 300. Leave it blank to use the challenge’s default, or for no timer.
   • The options, A to F. Select the radio button next to the correct answer. Use + Add option for more (up to 6) and Remove for fewer (at least 2). Blank options are left out.
2. Click + Add Question for the next one. Use the arrows to reorder and Remove to delete.
3. Click Save Questions.

List and Grid switch between a full view and a compact one. Import questions… adds questions from JSON or CSV (see Import and copy challenges).

Every question needs text, two different options and one correct answer, or saving tells you what to fix.

Changing a quiz people have played

Saving replaces every question. If the quiz already has questions, you’re asked to confirm with Save and reset: anyone who has already answered has their answers cleared and this quiz’s points reset to zero.

Questions answered by typing rather than picking can’t be edited here. They show as “Typed answer” and are kept as they are when you save.

How it scores

Points mode decides how the challenge’s Points are shared out:

Points mode	How it scores
Per question (partial credit)	Points are split evenly across the questions; partial credit for partial correctness.
All or nothing	Every question must be answered correctly, or the participant earns 0 points for the whole challenge.
Fastest finger (time-based)	Faster correct answers earn a larger share of each question’s points; wrong answers earn nothing.

Speed bonus, Beat the Captain, early-bird prize and retakes work as on any challenge.

Host it live

For a quiz with Host live on, the panel header shows Host this quiz now, which opens it in Live Quiz, where you run it question by question. See Host a live quiz.
