Host a live quiz

A live quiz is a quiz you host: you open one question at a time, phones can answer only that question, and closing it reveals the answer to everyone at once. It suits a quiz read aloud on a coach or from a stage. Scoring is the quiz’s own.

Who can do this: Org admins and score keepers can host. Read-only users can watch the page but not host.

Where: Event → Engagement → Live Quiz (also under Overview in the organiser app)

Before the event: set the quiz up for hosting

Section titled “Before the event: set the quiz up for hosting”

A quiz only appears on Live Quiz once it is set up for it, which an org admin does. On the Challenges page, open the quiz and turn on Host live (see Quiz and Create, edit, open and close challenges). Everyone then gets every question, in order. While you’re there you can tick Hide the question on phones when hosted live if you will read each question aloud.

A hosted quiz has a Host this quiz now link on the Challenges page that opens Live Quiz with it already picked.

If no quiz is set up, Live Quiz says “No quiz is set up for live hosting”.

  1. Pick the Quiz.
  2. Decide whether to Hide the question on phones: on, phones show only the answer options and you read each question aloud. It starts with the quiz’s own setting.
  3. Click Start live quiz. The quiz goes live, and the page says participants see it on their Home screen straight away. While nothing is open, phones show “Get ready”.
  4. When everyone is in, click Open question 1. The page shows the question, a bar for each option and how many answers are in.
  5. Click Close & reveal answer. The correct option is marked.
  6. Click Open question 2, and so on.
  7. After the last question is revealed, click Finish quiz.

Top scores on the right shows the leaders as you go.

To stop early, click End quiz and confirm. Remaining questions won’t be asked, and points already earned stay.

How the quiz scores is set by its Points mode; see How it scores.
