How points work

Every point in an event is a row in one ledger. A participant’s total is the sum of their rows, and the leaderboard ranks people and teams by those totals. This page explains where the rows come from, so you can answer “why does Acme Sales Summit’s top team have that score?”

Who can do this: Org admins, read-only users and score keepers can open the Points page.

Where: Event → Engagement → Points

The Scoring rules card at the top of the Points page lists “every way a participant’s total can move in this event”, with the live values. Each section links to the page where that rule is set (for example Set on Challenges). You can’t edit anything on the card itself.

Source (as the ledger names it) What earns it
Challenge, QR scan, Quiz answer Completing a challenge. The challenge’s Points field sets the base points (see Scoring). A submission that needs review only scores once it is approved in Moderation.
Speed bonus Finishing a challenge early, on challenges with a speed bonus. The bonus shrinks the later someone finishes.
Early bird Being one of the first people to finish a challenge that has an early-bird prize.
Beat the captain Outscoring your team leader on a challenge that offers it.
Community likes Likes on a submission, once the organiser finalises them.
On-ground game, On-ground game (team) On-ground game results that a score keeper published.
Lottery, External game Lottery draws and imported external game results.
Prediction Correct fixture predictions, awarded when a fixture is settled.
Checklist Ticking off every item on a checklist that awards points.
Power Play The extra points from a Power Play window (see Power play).
Team goal A team meeting one of its team goals.
Battle prize Winning a battle.
Manual award Points you award or deduct by hand.
Reversal Points taken back when an approved submission is later flagged or removed in Moderation. Approving it again gives them back.

When a challenge allows retakes, the best attempt counts, not the latest.

Badges and awards don’t carry points.

Each challenge has a Scored per setting: Both, Individual or Team (see Create, edit, open and close challenges).

  • Individual totals count challenges set to Individual or Both, plus the participant’s own bonuses, manual awards and their own on-ground game results.
  • Team totals count challenges set to Team or Both completed by the team’s members, plus the members’ bonuses, manual awards and own on-ground results, plus team on-ground game results. A team’s on-ground result counts once for the team, not once per member.
  • Team goals and battle prizes go to every member of the team. The team board therefore gains the reward times the number of members, so a bigger team earns more from the same goal.

A manual award to someone in a team also counts towards that team’s total.

Power Play only multiplies points earned by playing

Section titled “Power Play only multiplies points earned by playing”

A live Power Play window multiplies challenge completions, QR scans, quiz answers, speed bonuses, early-bird prizes and Beat the captain. It never multiplies manual awards, team goals, battle prizes, on-ground games, predictions or checklists.

Every ledger row also lands in one of three pools, shown in the ledger’s Pool column:

  • Digital: points for playing challenges in the app (completions, QR scans, quiz answers, lottery wins and external games).
  • Physical: published on-ground game results, team and individual.
  • Bonus: manual awards, speed bonuses, community likes, Power Play uplifts, predictions, team goals, early-bird prizes, checklists, battle prizes and Beat the captain.

All three pools add up to the leaderboard total. The split is used by Championship.

The History table on the Points page lists every point awarded, newest first, 20 per page. Its columns are Participant, Source, Reason, Points, Pool, Awarded at and Awarded by.

  1. To see one person’s points, pick them in the Participant filter.
  2. To go back to everyone, click Show everyone.

You can also see a participant’s latest points in the Points section of their drawer on the Participants page.
